Josh — aerial photographer and drone pilot behind aerial.melbourne

The Photographer

Digital manager
by day. Pilot
by weekend.

I'm a digital manager specialising in complex platforms by day — and an accredited drone pilot on weekends. All prints in this gallery are shot, edited, and released personally by me in Melbourne.

My work explores the geometry of Victoria's landscape — capturing clean lines, architectural scale, and natural patterns that are invisible from the ground. Every image in this collection required planning, permits, and patience: scouting locations, waiting for the right light, and flying precise flight paths to get the composition right.

Every print is made to order on archival paper and released personally through this site. I don't license these images to stock libraries or third-party retailers — buying a print here is the only way to own this work.

I also take drone photography commissions in Melbourne.

Made to Order

Every print is produced individually when you order it — nothing sits in a warehouse. Each one is checked before it ships, and sold-out or retired images are communicated in real time.

Archival Materials

All prints are produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm using archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years. The same materials used in gallery exhibitions worldwide.

Personal Release

I don't license my images to stock libraries or third-party retailers. Every print sold through this site is the only authorised way to own this work.

Melbourne Only

Every image in this collection was shot in Victoria. I'm focused on one city, deeply — not a wide geographic catalogue. That focus is what makes the work coherent.

What these terms mean

CASA accreditation
CASA accreditation is the credential the Civil Aviation Safety Authority requires before a drone can be flown commercially in Australia. Every print and commission here is flown under CASA’s standard operating conditions: a maximum of 120 metres above ground level, 30 metres clear of people not involved in the operation, within visual line of sight, and in daylight.
Giclée print
A giclée print is a print made with pigment-based inks rather than dyes, laid down by a large-format printer at high resolution. Pigment inks sit in the paper instead of soaking through it and are rated for well over a century of colourfastness, which is the difference between a fine art print and a poster-shop print that fades visibly in years.
Made to order
A made-to-order print is produced individually once it is ordered — printed, proofed and shipped as a one-off run rather than pulled from warehouse stock. Every print in this collection is made this way and checked against the current printer profile before it ships. They are open prints, not numbered limited editions.
